Brody's 1st Pinewood Derby
(Yes he also got glasses in January. They are the cool things these days, I guess. No more four eyes, they are now a COOL fashion.)
The Lizard
Brody drew the pattern and Michael helped him cut it out. Brody then painted it. Look carefully for the toes and the tail that wraps around the back.
Here is Brody at the starting line....that is about the only thing that we won. His car wan't that fast but he had a GREAT time putting it together. That is what it is all about. There is always next year and now he know that he has to prepare a little more if he wants his car to do better.

Snow Fun
With all the snow and now some warmer weather, the kids love to play outside.

Brae can almost put all his snow gear on by himself and that sure makes a difference when I decide to let them go outside. It isn't such a chore anymore. Now Brekka is because she always want the pink gloves that are not water proof or the pink kitty boots that won't keep her feet warm. She is all about fashion.

This is the canel in front of our house. It sure makes a good sliding hill for the kids to play on.

Brae and Gracie were learning and throwing snow balls.

Christmas Really Late....but here.

Here are some really late Christmas Pictures. I didn't get really good ones but here are a few.

We had fun spending time together with friends and family. My kids have all taken their turn of having the flu and now a bad cold and cough. Poor Brae was sick Christmas Eve and Christmas morning it took him a long time to get up and get going. He took a few glances at what Santa had brought and then laid on the floor. I couldn’t believe it. That is not like him.
Here is Brekka with her Pink Puppy Purse and her Doll. The kids love playing dress up so we got them some dress up hats and Brekka some "girl" dress up stuff. I tired to get a picture of them all loooking but this is the closest thing. We also have a lot of snow so we had a REALLY white Christmas. We already had a couple feet of snow but late Christmas Eve night and all Christmas day it snowed another foot or two. Thank goodness we have four wheel drive cars because we wouldn’t have been able to get to Michael’s parents if we didn't. We were literally going through 16-20” of snow on the highway. Not to mention that the one highway was closed so Michael just went on the back roads. It was kind of fun but I always get a little nervous. Michael was having fun and I guess he knew that if we got stuck his family or the neighbors would just bring the tractor to get us out. I don’t know that I have ever driven that far in snow that was that deep. At one point I looked back at the back seat window and there was snow being thrown up as tall as our suburban.

For the Mecham Gift Exchange Aunt Shandi and Uncle Mori gave the kids some of there favorite things: Brody got Tom & Jerry Movies, Brae got horses and Brekka got a Pink shirt. They all love them! Thanks Mori & Shandi! We had our cousins: Ambur, Kimbur, Zane, & Riley.
Here they are with the Marshmallow Guns we gave them.

Untitled (Like I know what to Put)
I hope I am not the only one in this world that constantly makes mistakes and puts both feet in his mouth. Not only that but has the ability to forget to express his apprectiation to those who may need it the most. I want to share some thoughts with all that read and especially those who need to hear it the most my family. I have no clue how a man like me can be so blessed with so much innocence and true love than I am.

Brekka, how can a father not be overjoyed of having a wonderful, beautiful daughter. She is my little Angel can make you laugh and smile with one look. A girl who is growing so fast that it scares me in trying to keep up. Brekka is a wonderful child of God that I am so grateful to be her father. It is a little scary to realize now that I can pick her up and hold her and before I know it she will be a grown woman I hope not to miss out on what is to come. I hope to protect her and help her on her path. Let no one stand in her way or try to deviate her from doing good.

Brae, A little man on a mission to do good, that I may not always realize, a young man of so much care and concern that I do not realize it as such. A very sensative gauge that would do me good to learn how to use him to guide me in how to act. Brae loves all and is a wonderful steward of God's, he will do many great things especially if his father is willing to listen and understand what he has to share, I hope that I will be blessed in understanding. Brae is a strong child his strength is amazing not only Physically but spiritually and of mind he will be a great Missionary and example to many. Of course I am not without concern I believe that I need to learn so that I do not break that spirit that I can help quide him in the correct path. I also pray that all may realize that Brae means good and will help and share their love with him.
Brody If I were to be one quarter of a man as Brody It would be a miracle. He continues to amaze me with his righteousness and desire to serve Our Father in Heaven. If i was able to pray and read as he does it would serve me well. He truly is in our family as an example, not only to us but all, in choosing right. As his mother appreciates he has a laugh that is contagious that will make you want to laugh also it is wonderful to hear.

Wendy, a young lady I married because of her sensitivity to others, her great ability in caring for children, A spirit and mind so pure that she probably should of be raised up but has a great work to do and wonderful spirits to raise on this Earth. A woman that makes me very thankful to have as a wife that allows me so many mistakes that anyone would give her permission to kick my can. Some one that cares enough for herself to make sure she is cared for before leaving or being seen by others. A daughter of God always searching his word and looking for ways to have his spirit around her. I defiantly married up and am continually trying to catch her but I am like dragging a boulder up the hill behind you, I am glad she is blessed with three little helpers.

I love my family and hope to be a father, and husband that they deserve. I hope that I can express this in not only my actions but my words also. You all are great!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Farewell to the Fall Decorations......

I feel really bad that Christmas is coming so soon and that I have almost skipped over Thanksgiving. Brody keeps telling me that we can not put up the Christmas decoration because we have not had Thanksgiving. Well to give Thanksgiving some credit.....I am very thankful for a lot of things. This year has been very eventful for us and I am very thankful for my great family (my wonderful husband, my great kids, and my supportive extended family), our health (even though Michael is still dealing with injuries from his accident and the kids have been sick for the past week), our new house (so the kids can run around and not have to play under my feet, and of course all the extra spce to store my STUFF and decorate) and the gospel!
I hope you all have a Wonderful Thanksgiving and spend some quality time with your families.

Halloween...so they are a little late

Kid's Party...Brekka was a bumble bee, Brae didn't want his picture taken and Brody is hiding behind his alien mask.

The Real Halloween Night: Brody was an alien, Brekka was a scarecrow, and Brae was a dragon.

This Halloween was very busy for us. I started the month out by dressing up for bunco, then followed Brody’s school carnival, our adult dinner club party, the kid’s party (because the shop was already decorated), Brody’s class party and then….finally Halloween. By this time, I figured the kids had experiences the whole Halloween experience but boy was I wrong. Brody informed me that he had never been trick or treating door to door so I decided that the kids needed to do that. (Thanks Cari!) The weather was actually nice. Usually we have snow or rain and the wind is always blowing. The kids did enjoy it, but who wouldn’t when their sack is being filled with candy.
Also, this month my parents decided to surprise us by delivering Halloween sacks and balloons. They have been known to drive just over two hours to deliver us goodies, say hi for 10-15 minutes and then go back home. Crazy, I know but we love them for it. They are always so good to support us and do so many kind things for us. Thanks mom and dad, we really do appreciate you! (I think they were so excited that gas prices have gone down that they just need to take a trip at almost half the cost =})

Michael didn't want to miss out on the Halloween fun....

This is him before he left for work. (Notice his nose and lip)
Brekka loves to pout...she has been doing this a lot lately. I think it is so funny.

Michael made his own coffin for his Halloween costume.

Does he look dead? Wendy was Lil' Red in the Hood

Halloween Party
I love Halloween! I love to dress up, I love to decorate, and I love to party! This year for dinner club we had our party out in our shop. Michael did most of the major decorating (lights, the wall, the spider & web). My sister Cari helped me with all the other little decorating.
Annual maple bar/twist eating contest
Everyone had a lot of fun. Couples have to eat the whole thing without using their hands.
I had a hard time taking pictures because everyone was laughing so hard or they couldn't keep it in their mouth.
Wilma & Fred Flintston (Cari & Mitch)Hunters...with awesome duck calls (Mike & Jenise)

Thanks Michael for helping me with the PARTY! You are the Best!

Brekka's Birthday party
She loves pink. I guess it is a good thing with two brothers.

The easy way out cake. The kids loved it....more frosting in the middle.

Because Brody and Brekka's birthdays are one day apart, we had a family/friend birthday party. Good thing a couple of them were looking at the camera.

Happy Birthday Brody

Happy Birthday Brody!

Brody turned 8 on Friday. He was excited to have a birthday party. This year he wanted to have an Alien Birthday Party.... We kind of ran out of time for a fancy cake but some UFOs did come to the party. The boys had a lot of fun make their own UFO/spaceships.
It is amazing how fast they grow up. I have been very blessed to have Brody as a son. This past week he has been out of school for Spud Harvest. Brae and Brekka have loved having him home. He is such a good example to them.

Random Summer Pictures

Here are a few fun pictures from this summer:

Brekka loves to play in the dirt. Brae has taught her well. One Sunday afternoon while at Michael's Grandparent's House, Brekka decided she needed to play in the dirt with the boys. This always looks so funny to me: Dirt, pigtails, white tights, a dress...they just don't mix. Oh well, what do ya do? She's having fun (notice the smile) and her and Brae are two peas in a pod.

Brekka and Tanner (cousins-1 week apart) often get called twins. Cari and I sometimes just tell people that they are twins because it is easier. We were at the Idaho Falls Zoo with Brody's Class and when we got to the gate the two babies (who are not babies anymore, but we still refer to them as that) were next to each other and Lexie & Brae were next to each other, and someone said, "Look two sets of twins". We just smiled.

West Jefferson vs Butte County

Last night we were able to go to the WJ football game to watch my nephew play. We picked Micky and Alex up in Terreton and drove to Arco, we had debated in whether we should go or not (gas). But we decided it would be worth it and fortunately it was a good game and it wasn't that bad of a drive either. The Panthers won the game 46-22. It is amazing to see the game from an older mans prospective. I have a lot of respect for the young athletes that keep us entertained. It is fun to watch what I once could do. Running the water back and forth was a good workout, not quite as good as the Jedi workout though.

Green Canyon Trip
The swim trip was worth it we left here about 4 and got there around 5. Of course we needed to eat so the kids wouldn't want to get out so after that was all said and done we got ready and went swimming. It may be hard to believe that there was only one other person in the pool besides us, that only happened for me when we took swimming lessons and they were draining the pool. The other gentleman left and a aerobics class showed up and stayed for a half an hour or so I am here to tell you if you ladies if you want a work out you need to order their CD, songs such as this old flag, Yankee doodle, etc. Wendy can add more she is going to get World Gym to use it. After the synchronized swim team left we had the pool to our lonely selves.
My kids were amazing they all went under water at least once (sorry Brekka I know that was rude). Brae was having fun showing us how he could get wet. and kept us busy trying to keep him from the deep end.
But the reason we are going is because Brody has never liked getting his ears and nose wet, so I told him that if we went swimming three times before his Baptism he would be fine. I did tell him though that the first time he would have to go under 5 times without complaining 10 the next followed by 15, and I promised him he would not have a fear of going under, I had also bought them some earplugs, nose and some "Noggles"(brae). Brody didn't hardly use the earplugs or the nose plugs and barely the goggles for the first few trips under the water. The amazing part after Wendy and Brekka got out I see Brody crawling around on the bottom under water. He had put on the nose plugs and goggles and was staying under the water, I believe the fear may be dissipating. Brody rocks and we didn't have to force him to do it, it is amazing what Prayer and Applying our faith we do. Especially that of a child it is a great blessing in our adults lives to see a child rely on Their Father in Heaven for Help. Every one have a great day!

What a day, this blog stuff is going to be on my mind constantly who knows if I will be able to handle it. I am doing this post to inform folks that the Mecham family will be going swimming Thursday night, in an effort to prepare Bro for his Baptism next month. So if any of you are willing to see a gorilla swimming you are invited to go with us. Of course we will try to get there early and leave early so the school attendees can get enough rest for school.

THE BIG BANG

I wish that I was just talking about the New Year coming in. As many know I am not much of a stay up late guy and have the philosophy of my Grandmother of her birthday "it is just another day". But little did I know that volunteering at the Rexburg Temple would begin a "WEIRD" year for me. The First was supposed to be a day off so I would take advantage of that and be a parking attendant for the Temple open House.

The day began by ripping out the grotesque flooring (carpet +kids+kitchen= grotesque) out of the kitchen at Snowview where we than were managing girls apartments. We had already bought new flooring. Than I got ready for the new job (guard rail) I fortunately choose to wear warm clothing.

When the time came I went to the Stake center where we were supposed to meet for direction. I got to sit in the front of the chapel with the other fortunate volunteers who decided to spend their day outside. As we were directed Brother Orchard said "hey mecham you take the main entrance you are big enough to handle it." I should have taken that for a warning and served lemonade instead.

My shift I believe was from 1-5 so for the first hour and a half I was doing well trying to smile (not my strong suit) and answer any questions asked of me. The conditions were fair the roads not good.

All day I had been thinking of how the roads needed to be cleared, and didn't seem like there was two clear lanes. I was enjoying the opportunity to serve. As I was standing there a car was looking for the entrance and slowly began to turn in as they did a pickup was coming up behind them quite quickly. I than noticed the pickup passing on the inside lane of the car and struck the front end of the car. I tried to run and I am not as fast as I believe or I was spinning out because I am faster than I believe, anyhow the outcome was unexpected.

I was hit by a half ton GMC pickup. I remember flying through the air saying "Child of a Female dog, that hurt!" And as quick as I said that was rebuked and praying for forgiveness and to please let me live. I than thought of how much I love my family and was not ready to leave (I wish I could express that more often). I ended up face down in the snow in the opposite direction that I tried to run. I did not try to move because my back and hip felt six inches higher than they should be and my right knee felt like it was at a 90 degree angle to the side. Help was quick to get there. I than tried to get my cell phone out of my pocket and call wendy ( because I think it is cool when mothers put their conversations with kids I will put mine here with wendy)

Michael, (in a calm voice)

"Wendy, Meet me at the hospital I was hit by a pickup!"

Wendy. (Sarcastic voice)

"Are you kidding me?"

Michael (Continues Calmly)

"Just meet me at the hospital"

side note wendy said I sounded a little annoyed.

I than gave the phone to Brother Orchard and he said,

"Sister Mecham, Your husband will be okay he was hit by a pickup and is being taken to the hospital in the ambulance."

To be continued this is to much to handle ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I know the suspense is dreadful. kinda of like disappointing vampire novel

Taking Over the Blog...
I hope we are all ready for this, I, Michael Mecham am going to take over this blog spot. I have been against putting my family and the activities done on the world wide web, but have recently had a change of heart (yes I do have one contrary to many beliefs). I have viewed and searched for many friends containing blogs and so many families seem to have a lot of fun. I decided that my family will have at least one "bloggable" event a week, although I hope we have them daily. So as you all know I am a man so it will be as a man of little mind can do, I hope it will be something enjoyed by many and abused by none. I believe that I will begin at the Craziest day that I have had in a long time and rightfully so -the beginning of this year 1/1/2008. I will than try to catch us up as soon as possible because the list is growing and I am getting old and slow.

The kids were ready for church early and Michael decided to take a couple pictures of the kids. Obviously Brekka didn't want this at first.
